Picture Cd's With Music-legal?, Does anyone know if it is legal? Options

Hi everyone, I have been reading this forum for awhile and others. I am new to the business and have been planning and researching for the past year. I plan to luanch in march. I am very active in my community, PTA, church organizational sports ect. I was wondering if it is legal to create a picture cd with musin from itunes and sell it to whom will rent the bouncers. We do this for our kiddoes on the church teams rosters and is a great hit (but for free). If I had the parents sign a waiver of consent for their party pix's would that be enough.

Sounds like a cool idea. The only thing is that not only do you have to worry about the pictures, which I would guess that you will be taking th pictures ( I believe you would have the copyright to that), but you have to worry about the music. If you download music from itunes, you can technically get into copyright issues, unless you get permission from the copyright holder. In this case, you would probably have to pay a fee or portion of the sales to the holder. That is why many radio commercials have jingles for their music. If you still want to do that, you can probably find some free jingles that you can add to your pics.

I tried to reply, however, never saw it so here it is again. I actually would not talke photos unless requested since I am not really in that field. I would rather have them email me the photos, put them on a cd from walmart or use walgreens program. The are gonna print them anyway so why not? Its super hard to find music you can reproduce and sell. In most cases you literally have to call the record company of the artist and ask permission to reproduce their music....then there's a huge fee...it sucks

Mommy, you want to find royalty free music content. Copy write laws over time lapse. Night before the last 4th of July my family talked me into bringing a inflatable screen to the beach and watch a movie before the fireworks. Great idea, but not enough time to rent a licensed movie, dilemma. I went to http://www.archive.org, the content available here as I understand it is public domain or royalty free. I downloaded a few hours worth of old cartoons and other animation that has fallen out of licensing. This was probably better anyways, it was more family oriented. The o'l timers watched cartoons that they haven't watched since they were kids, and the kids got a bit of culture while being entertained.

Moral of this winded story is that everyone is correct, if it is licensed material you need to rent or buy the rights to use it in public, however you can still work around this buy finding content that is public domain
