Ok, I started with tents this year and I haven't figured out a good way to transport the tent top, hardware and poles from the trailer to the site. I thought about welding a couple of brackets on the tent jack and strapping the poles to that. Or designing some type of cart. I know that you tent people can ease my pain here. I'm tired of carrying poles around two at a time. angry.gif

Thanks!

We carry all of our frame tent parts in groups...all 8 legs bundled together...the 8 way spider top all bundled together.

I don't think there is much you can do besides buddling them in bigger groups...they are usally too long to put onto a car and get into peoples back yard. With 2 people setting up it should take more than 10-15 to move all the eqipment from the driveway to the setup site if you move them in bundles.

We are also about to get into tents and were asking the same questions. However, when we bought our company several years back, the previous owner only had 4 units. He built a cart for each unit instead of using dollys. These worked great but you could only fit 4 units in a box truck vs 8 standing up. So we just threw these in storage where they are still sitting. I plan on converting these to "tent" dolly's. I am going to redesign it to whee a complete tent can be stored onto this dolly. Then, all we do is roll it onto the truck and then roll it to the set-up site.

BUT, like I said, "getting into tents", which means I have no freaking clue what I am talking about YET! biggrin.gif

We have a 4 pole minimum. If you carry less than that you get screamed at or fired. We throw some shrink wrap on the truck if the guys want to bundle up the pipes for a frame tent. Other than that a dolly for stakes and tops, a garbage can to throw fittings in and they are good to go.

How do you bundle them? I picture using the strap with the cinch like where you attach the blower tube to the blower on an inflatable. That would probably work good if I can find the hardware. Can you buy them somewhere??

tentcompanies overhere (the big ones) tell the customer that the area where the tent needs to stand, must be reachable with their machines. They are not going to walk every piece towards the area. Mostly containers are lifted of their trucks and transported eventually with a forklift.

From what i understand most companies in Europe use structures for everything. Here in the States we still use a lot of pole and frame tents. Generally the structures take a forklift or lull to install.

With some tents we do require that we can access the site with a bobcat...but if you need a bobcat to install the tent then you don't need to hall all your stuff by hand either.

I started with just a 20x20 frame, next spring I'm getting a 20x30. A lot of the parties I do are back yard parties, can't get a trailer to most of them, but it only has 13 poles. I was thinking of welding two cross pieces to the tent jack and stacking the poles on it. Not sure if that's worth it or not. Thought maybe somebody has already tried it. Made sense to me.

Granite industries, They are a manufacturer if scaffold and staging Makes an air tise "cart" that has different attachment for carrying scaffold pipe, It is a neat item because you can make the unit different lengths depending on the lenght of the pipe, and breaks down very easily to put on the truck Call Dan, he is a sales rep for granite and ask him for some info, it is a new item so i do not see it on his site, but i did see it at the ARA show and was impressed, Dans number is 419-351-2827
